Every January, my New Year’s Resolutions seem to get tossed aside. It takes very strong resolve to push through, especially when your aspirations are supposed to last the whole year. I’ve found it exceedingly hard to keep up because every new day explodes with spontaneity, and on top of that, having too many resolutions can quickly become overwhelming.
This year, I am setting more reasonable expectations for myself—that way, I can actually do some of the things I’ve wanted to do for a long time!
Going to Bed Earlier for More Energy
One of my biggest problems has always been going to bed too late; I’m the kind of person who plays video games late into the night and sucks down energy drinks to stay awake. I also love midnight snacks, which tend to have a lot of sugar and make me antsy.
This year, I should break these habits so my body can be healthier. Sleep is a highly important component of our health, and I don’t want to lose touch with it! Once I settle into a better sleep schedule, I can’t wait to tackle the days with a grin.
Being More Productive at Work
Getting sleep can also make you more productive at work; I’ve noticed the unfortunate consequences of staying up late, especially in the beginning of the day. In short, my work habits are in need of a serious sharpening, especially because, for the last few years, they have been so out of whack that they have caused me undue anxiety.
That’s why I’ve made an effort to find better ways of focusing and staying relaxed. For example, I can take a power nap during my lunch break or drink a lot of water throughout the day to remain calm and hydrated.
Taking My Appearance More Seriously
As a man, I don’t always take my appearance seriously, and the neglect has finally started to catch up to me: I have all kinds of lines and wrinkles, and my jowls droop. Thankfully, though, I’ve found a variety of ways to refresh my look. One of my friends, for example, has been in fashion school for a few years, and has a lot of insight into male beauty habits. My plan is to regularly consult her and learn some of her most reliable aesthetic tips.
I also need to pay more attention to my wardrobe. When I shop, I normally grab whatever catches my eye first, and don’t think much about style or color. My outfits are so disjointed, in fact, that my wife thinks I look like a clown! So, I’m going to completely revamp my wardrobe with a set of fresh, exciting clothes.
Last, but certainly not least, I plan to undergo a deep plane facelift this year so I can turn back the hands of time. It’s time to take complete control of the way I look!
Sharpening My Craft in the Workshop
A couple of years ago, I took an interest in woodworking and installed a workshop in my garage. Lately, though, all of my tools have been gathering dust, which I’m ashamed of! So, I’m going to sharpen my tools, organize the space, and start fresh by building some useful household items. By the end of the year, I hope to be in the workshop for at least 5 hours a week, hacking and sawing and honing my love for the art of woodworking!
